Deep Black

Why the name deep:black?

deep:black is the colour that is made when all colours in the spectrum are combined. deep:black stands for the unknown and the way in which many people perceive conflict as being something negative and scary. deep:black is about supporting people in exploring their relationship with conflict by stepping into the dark creatively through the arts.

Why are you a not-for-profit co-operative?

In April 2010 deep:black was registered as a not-for-profit co-operative, a governance structure which reflects our core values around common ownership, community and sustainability.  In July 2024, we became a Community Interest Company (C.I.C) as we identified that our mission and practices to provide social impact with a community focus, was more suited to a C. I. C. even though our core values had not changed.
