Testimonials

This Deep Black workshop was an incredible opportunity! Each activity felt like a breath of fresh air. I was left with a sense of well-being and through creativity felt supported to participate and to re-shape the world. Thank you so very much for this beautiful experience.

I have been lucky enough to have known and work with deep:black for the last 4 years, and am consistently blown away with how impressive they have always been in all areas of their work – regardless of what task is asked of them. I can’t say enough how grateful I am to this team of dedicated and highly professional workers. Thank you deep:black – you have brought huge opportunity and change to many young people within Haringey – and been a real inspiration to me.

[The project has] given me happiness: being together here and learning things.

There is so much more than words on earth to connect and understand each other – thank you for this wonderful workshop

The Canon Frome Court reflection day is an important event on the community annual calendar. Petra facilitated a focused, diverse and relevant programme which engaged all of the attendees ensuing maximum participation. She educated the community in on-confrontational ways of approaching controversial issues which will help maintain the harmony of the community. Petra is hugely knowledgable in he  field, widely expended and very engaging and I look forward to welcoming her back to facilitate future events.

As part of our work to celebrate Mental Health Awareness week 2018, we were delighted to have Deep:Black come and deliver a workshop to our parents and carers on how we can support both ourselves and others in managing stress and anxiety. This is the second year we have held the workshop for our parents and carers with Deep:Black and each time we feel that we gain a great deal through the experience. Deep:Black helps us in our work to develop our skills further, to support each other and come together to look after our mental health and emotional well-being.

Petra was a thoughtful and professional facilitator. She took time to prepare an interesting agenda for our workshop that met all our requirements and exceeded our expectations. The activities were engaging and fun and kept the group’s attention throughout the day. As a group we developed our understanding of each other and learned a great deal, we would certainly use the services again.

We are buzzing indeed! Everyone who experienced the deep:black sessions has said how good they were, how needed it was and that it has helped them in their work. I think our staff were like thirsty plants craving a little nurturing. They have blossomed a little now. Thank you so much. Your careful, empathetic approach is so valuable for us to move forward. Excellent.

Now I’m much more aware of the different mental health problems there can be and how to talk to people if they need support. If other people knew how to help people with problems like that it would just be a better community for everyone.

One particularly sweet project is Birds Crossing Borders, which allows people to colour in and send postcards to unknown recipients, posted between the jungle and the UK. It has no grand goal, just to increase sympathy and understanding… it’s not providing solutions. It encourages us to think carefully and ask questions.
